WSO2’s flag flew high at the annual National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) Ceremony held at the Galadari Hotel last week. The open source technology company was honoured with four awards including overall gold for its Enterprise Service Bus, the WSO2 ESB.
The NBQSA competition recognises outstanding local achievements in ICT. Now in its 12th year, the Sri Lankan arm of the British Computer Society conducts the competition with a distinguished judging panel comprising of industry experts and senior lecturers of leading Sri Lankan universities. Each submission is evaluated by the quality of the product demonstration and presentation.
“The competition serves to showcase Sri Lankan ICT products, which is a much needed requirement in the current globalised economical environment and NBQSA has been the only national event of its type, to honour significant technological advancements in the country, since 1998,” said Vajeendra S. Kandegamage, Chairman – NBQSA 2010 Organising Committee.
“The key to our achievement is the great team work of every member in the WSO2 family. We identify a goal and work towards attaining it together, one step at a time. Without this team effort, this level of achievement would never have been possible,” said Miyuru Wanninayaka, Software Engineer, WSO2 ESB team.
WSO2 walked away with an award for each of its three submissions along with the overall Gold Award. Its haul for the night included:
=WSO2 Data Services Server: Bronze Award under Infrastructure & Tools Category
=WSO2 Gadget Server: Silver Award under Research & Development Category
=WSO2 Enterprise Service Bus: Gold Award under Infrastructure & Tools Category and Overall Gold Award
“I walked off the stage a proud man – holding the most valuable award of the night! The award represents the great teamwork, passion and commitment of the whole WSO2 team (including past team members) and is a reminder of what we can achieve. Our product WSO2 ESB is new to the field, but even at this point successfully competes against industry giants such as IBM, Tibco and Oracle to win customers like eBay, Prudential and many more,” said Ruwan Linton, Product Manager, WSO2 ESB.
WSO2 celebrates five years of creating a global brand this year and continues to be committed to bringing Sri Lanka to the forefront of software technology internationally. It delivers the only complete open source middleware platform for Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) and has established itself as the innovator in the field and continues to achieve greater levels of accolade and commercial success.
