WSO2, the lean enterprise middleware company, announced yesterday that Paul Broekhoven has joined WSO2 as Director of European Sales.

He brings more than two decades of experience in IT, from business development to sales and sales management, including 15 years at Sonic Software and Progress Software focusing on integration and the service-oriented architecture (SOA) market space.

In his new role, Paul will address the growing demand in Europe for WSO2’s middleware, including the award-winning 100% open source WSO2 Carbon, the industry’s first fully componentised middleware platform, and WSO2 Stratos, the first 100% open source cloud middleware platform for enterprise applications.

“We are thrilled to have Paul join WSO2. With his proven sales and management expertise in the European market, he is a strategic addition to the sales team,” said Lavi de Silva, WSO2 Vice President of Global Sales. “Paul also brings a wealth of experience in open source and SOA that dovetails perfectly with our focus on delivering next-generation open source middleware to support enterprise IT demands on-premise and in the cloud.”

Prior to WSO2, Paul served as FuseSource Director of EMEA & AP field operations and was responsible for setting up and leading a successful European team offering services (subscriptions, consultancy and training) around Apache projects ServiceMix, ActiveMQ, Camel and CXF, to small and large enterprises in Europe and APAC.

Prior to FuseSource, he held sales management and business development positions at Sonic Software and Progress Software. In those roles, he focused on integration and SOA solutions in such areas as messaging, enterprise service bus, business process management, governance, and master data management, while building a deep interest and involvement in open source and Apache. Paul also served as a professional services manager at Informix and a product manager for hardware reseller Marathon Computers.

“WSO2 is introducing a new level of agility to enterprises with its open source WSO2 Carbon enterprise middleware and WSO2 Stratos cloud middleware platforms,” said Paul. “I am excited to join the talented WSO2 team in empowering European organisations to meet their IT objectives today and in the future.”

WSO2 is the lean enterprise middleware company. It delivers the only complete open source enterprise SOA middleware stack purpose-built as an integrated platform to support today’s heterogeneous enterprise environments — internally and in the cloud. WSO2’s service and support team is led by technical experts who have proven success in deploying enterprise SOAs and contribute to the technology standards that enable them.
