Country to get 1000 global-class credentialed BPO talents by 2011 end

The Lanka BPO Academy (LBA), the island’s first and only BPO capacity building organisation with exclusive international BPO Certification programmes today announced the commencement of its operations.

LBA is the only authorised BCI Certification Training Provider (CTP) in Sri Lanka offering 12 different international certification programmes for Lankan BPO professionals and aspirants.

Present across 40+ nations, BCI — the BPO Certification Institute, Inc. (BCI) is the world’s largest BPO certification body and its certifications are available in more than 400 global locations today.

Notably enough, BCI certifications — based on the world’s only pan-BPO HCMS21 standards are rapidly becoming qualification benchmarks for all employee-positions in the world’s largest BPOs, and LBA is all set to offer exactly the same HCMS21-synchronised BPO training programmes in the island that touch the lives of more than 50000 BPO professionals worldwide every year.

The Lanka BPO Academy expects this association to trigger the process of establishment of a sustainable BPO talent development infrastructure in the island, which will eventually ensure a regular supply of world-class human resources for the growing Sri Lankan BPO industry.

Lanka BPO Academy, mandated by BCI to train fresh talent, associates, team leaders and managers for the BPO industry, eyes developing a pool of at least 1000 pre-trained and internationally credentialed BPO professional talents by 2011-end.

In his inaugural presentation, Yasas Vishuddhi Abeywickrama, the Chief Executive Officer, Lanka BPO Academy said, “LBA is a brand new outfit dedicated to BPO talent development and seeks to leverage BCI’s robust global standards on the one hand, and on the other, decades of experience of LBA promoters in training and human capacity building.”

Talking about LBA’s uniqueness, Abeywickrama said: “We’re ready with world class content, management systems and training best-practices and hope to deliver never-before learning and competence building experiences in Sri Lanka.”

Speaking on the occasion, BCI’s Executive Vice President and Global Operations Head, Sanjeeva Shukla expressed the confidence that BCI and LBA, together with the support of the local BPO industry players, the government and the universities, will be able to convert Sri Lanka into a reservoir of global-class BPO Talents and help the nation actualise its potential as hotbed of BPO and KPO.
