The US Embassy Colombo announced a new program designed to promote greater understanding of social media, the Social Media Lab.
Accepting applications as of yesterday, 2 January 2014, Social Media Lab will offer free interactive beginner, intermediate and advanced social media training courses at the American Center Colombo.
“We have done a number of social media trainings over the past few years, and want to formalise these trainings through a system of educating the public on social media best practices,” said Christopher Teal, Director of the American Center.
“Our ultimate goal with the Social Media Lab is to foster a greater understanding among Sri Lankans about social media and to inspire people to engage more effectively online.”
Anyone can register for courses, from 2-17 January 2014 on the US Embassy Colombo website: http://goo.gl/1Es2sW, and there is no cost to register.
Applications will be reviewed on a first-apply basis, and candidates will be informed by mid-January of upcoming course dates and times. For more information, please go to http://srilanka.usembassy.gov/sm_lab.html.
