Workers in the United Arab Emirates’ information technology sector are amongst the best paid in the world, a new study has found.
According to the report, released by recruitment tendering platform myhiringclub.com, professionals working in IT in Gulf state rank 17th based on an average wage of AED300,000 ($81,500) a year, or AED25,000 ($6,790) a month.
IT workers in Switzerland topped the survey, with an average yearly wage of $167,890, while Belgium came second with an average wage of $142,570. The UK and USA were ranked fourth and fifth with average salaries of $126,570 and $121,460 respectively.
The report however neglects to take into account local taxation. Comparing just the UAE, UK and US, based on their respective tax systems, the average UAE wage remains at $81,500, while the UK wage slips to $83,725, while the average US wage falls to $95,459.
The report follows figures from Abu Dhabi and Dubai-based recruitment firm Charterhouse Partnership, which revealed that CIO-level wages average 50,000AED ($) in the UAE. Solutions architects, program managers, and enterprise architects average AED45,000 according to the same report.
According to the report from myhiringclub.com, Kuwait ranked 19th, Qatar 20th, and Saudi Arabia 21st.
