Top industry professional Jayantha de Silva appointed to ICTA Board

The Government has appointed Industrial and Financial Systems (IFS) Sri Lanka Chairman/CEO Jayantha de Silva to the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) Board recently. De Silva fills the vacancy created by the demise of ICT industry pioneer Dr. R. B Ekanayake. Coming from an ICT professional background, Mr. de Silva is decked with qualifications from reputed world institutions, including the University of Washington D. C. He is renowned for his pioneering ICT industry leadership and stewardship over several decades. De Silva received the ‘Most Valuable Employee Award’ consecutively in 2004 and 2005 from IFS, the Swedish publicly-quoted global company operating in over 50 countries. In 2011 he was awarded the ‘Lifetime Achiever Award’ for his enormous contribution to the ICT industry in Sri Lanka at the National Best Quality IT (NBQSA) Awards ceremony. De Silva joins the ICTA Board with a wealth of board level experience at the International arena and pioneering ICT sector leadership in Sri Lanka. He was instrumental in establishing IFS Sri Lanka in 1997 as one of the first Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in this sector. He was also responsible for its expansion to become a Rs. 2 billion foreign exchange generating company, resulting in an employee base of over 750 people. In addition, de Silva was instrumental in initiating a scholarship scheme for undergraduates and industry placements for internships in the early days of the ICT industry. As Vice Chairman of the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM), Jayantha de Silva, is well-known for his highest level of integrity and professionalism. Through his ICT industry experience, the appointment of de Silva will be a great boon to ICTA.
