Timex and Fergasam ramps up with SAP HANA

  • Deploys SAP Apparel and Footwear to support expansion plans
Timex and Fergasam Group (T&FG), a forerunner in apparel manufacturing in Sri Lanka, announced plans to implement SAP AG’s SAP Apparel and Footwear (SAP AFS) application to better support the global development and distribution of its diversified mix of products. The group will run the application on the latest SAP HANA platform. Computer Systems (Pvt) Ltd., a SAP VAR partner, will be supporting the group in execution of this project. “While our ability to add value to a customer’s products and manufacture complex garments has always been our key strengths; we have grown to encompass the entire spectrum of activities in garment manufacturing, from creative design to end consumer marketing. This has made it imperative for us to have robust systems which can streamline the flow of information across various divisions to enable management take better informed decisions,” said T & FG Managing Director Arshad A. Sattar. “The SAP Apparel and Footwear application offers us a proven industry solution. We are confident that deploying this solution in our manufacturing operations initially complements our ongoing adoption of SAP’s latest HANA platform and will help us integrate existing systems and assist us with our plans for vertical integration and geographical expansion.” With 19 manufacturing facilities across Sri Lanka and Bangladesh working alongside offices in the UK, Hong Kong and Europe, T&FG manufactures high quality garments for world class buyers such as Next, Jones New York, Wallis, BHS and Ralph Lauren among others as well as its in-house premium women’s lifestyle brand, Avirate. The group has expanded its marketing operations in the UK and Hong Kong while opening new offices in Canada and India. T&FG has also commenced commercial operations at its new manufacturing facility in Mannar, situated in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. “T&FG will have complete control over their supply chain, from procuring raw materials to delivering finished styles and help them monitor their complex processes, independent of time and place,” said Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Vice President – Ecosystem, Channels and General Business, SAP Indian Sub Continent. “Being an early adopter of SAP HANA in-memory computing platform in the Apparel manufacturer, the T&FG group will be able to dramatically accelerate their analytics, business processes, and predictive capabilities.”
