Three Nenasalas (wisdom outlets) were set up on 20 March for increasing the information and communication technology knowledge of youth and schoolchildren of low income families in the Colombo District. The ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) said that these Nenasalas were set up in Slave Island, Ketawalamulla an Maligawatte in Colombo.
The launch of these Nenasalas took place under the patronage of Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Senior Minister for Urban Affairs A.H.M. Fowzie and MP Thilanga Sumatipala.
Participating in the inauguration, Telecommunication and Information Technology Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the Government’s goal was to provide information and communication technology facilities to all whatever race, religion, party or social status as rich or poor, one belonged to.
By now 757 Nenasalas have been set up island-wide under the 1,000-Nenasala concept of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
