The Ceylon Chamber hosts seminar on ‘Google apps for business’

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted a seminar organised by Google together with its local partner FineTech to enlighten the business community on how businesses can effectively and efficiently use Google, to increase the organisation’s productivity whilst reaching higher levels of profitability. The seminar was addressed by Google Sri Lanka/Maldives Country Consultant Rohan Jayaweera, Etisalat Former CEO Dumindra Ratnayake and Finetech CEO Clehan Pulle. During the seminar, which was attended by over 200 participants, experts said that in today’s competitive world, it is very important to increase the organisational productivity, whilst reducing on traditional costs, to collaborate with colleagues and ‘go beyond the desktop’ with low cost solutions that can help any size of an entity. Google says it has created an advantage in helping and assisting businesses of all sizes to enhance productivity; save costs and thereby maximise profitability through their app. According to experts, 96% of the population has mobile phones and in Sri Lanka more than 70% of the population has got access to mobile phones. According to Google, using Google Apps for business helps firms to reduce IT management overheads and licensing costs, get rid of obsolete procedures that inhibit innovation and collaboration, improve employee productivity and communication processes. The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce facilitated this seminar, keeping in line with its overall agenda of enhancing the knowledge of the Sri Lankan businesses to be competitive with the global standards in technology.
