The National Mobile Service Provider SLT Mobitel has extended its exclusive mTicketing platform for railway ticket reservations to all telecommunication operators to enhance and promote efficiency and easy-to-use train services to all train commuters countrywide. This is yet another initiative by the industry to serve the requirements of all its loyal customers and enhance service offerings through valuable collaborations.
MobitelmTicketing will now offer its valuable services to Dialog, Etisalat, Airtel, Hutch and Sri Lanka Telecom as well through its partnership with Sri Lanka Railways, to ensure its services are widely available and easily accessible for all train commuters. The services offered by mTicketing could be used 24 hours a day for all 365 days of the year.
The cost of train tickets purchased via mTicketing would be added directly to the Post-Paid bill and an SMS confirmation is sent instantly to the customer. The confirmation details of the booking can be produced at the special counter of the railway station or SLT Mobitel and other operator outlets for ticket collection in a hassle-free manner.
The key train routes covered by the special train reservation service include Kandy-Colombo Intercity, Vavuniya Intercity, VavuniyaNight Mail, Yaldevi, BadullaNight Mail, UdarataMenike, PodiMenike and the Rajadhani Express. With this convenient method, the reservation of train ticketing has increased progressively within a very short period and the increasing demand for the service as well.mTicketing currently maintains over 40 mTicketing service enabled stations in the country.
SLT Mobitel mTicketingservice was awarded the top winner of the e-Swabhimani Award under the category of e-Business and Commerce in 2010 and received recognition as the winner of the mTravel and Tourism category at the mBillionth Awards South Asia 2011 where Mobitel competed with several contenders of the telecommunications industry from the South Asian Region.
