SLIIT, recognised as the leading institute for Information Technology in Sri Lanka, has commenced enrolment for the new academic year and seeks to nurture a new generation of experts who will contribute towards boosting the workforce in this sector.
For over a decade, SLIIT has been recognised as the largest IT degree awarding institute in the country which provides a broad scope of academic opportunities for students.
The institute has developed numerous pathways which allow students to complete a globally recognised degree entirely in Sri Lanka or abroad, depending on their preference. SLIIT has strong ties with an impressive line-up of partner universities including those in the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom.
“Our goal is to broaden students’ prospects by providing numerous academic pathways through collaborations with some of the world’s leading universities,” explained Professor S. “To date, SLIIT has produced over 16,000 IT professionals to the nation,” elaborated Professor Lalith Gamage, President and CEO of SLIIT. “I believe that our students are groomed to become highly skilled professionals through the academic programmes we offer as well as our holistic approach to education. We place focus on students being well-rounded individuals and provide a range of facilities to encourage participation in sports, competitions and other extracurricular activities. We constantly redefine our academic standards, thus being able to cater to evolving industry demands.”
As the only private higher education institute in Sri Lanka to be admitted to the Association of Commonwealth Universities and receive accreditation from the University Grants Commission, SLIIT has garnered a solid reputation for providing quality education combined with a high success rate pertaining to graduate employability. “SLIIT possesses strong links with the IT industry, both in Sri Lanka and abroad. These collaborative efforts with leading companies ensure that SLIIT students have access to an extensive knowledge-base and the opportunity to establish valuable industry links through a diverse range of programs at the institute,” further noted Professor Gamage.
Each year, SLIIT provides up to 120 scholarships to top students (40 full scholarships and 80 half scholarships), and to date, the institute has awarded scholarships worth Rs. 60,000,000, providing valuable opportunities for students to hone their skills in their chosen fields of study. SLIIT has established centres at Matara, Kandy and Jaffna, while the main campuses are situated in Malabe and Colpetty, Colombo. The institute seeks to make academic resources available to a wider student population, ensuring a high standard of education while placing strong focus on research and development to produce exceptionally skilled graduates who will leave their mark on the evolving IT landscape in the country.
