SLASSCOM Mobile COE Executive briefing on 8 May to focus on security

The SLASSCOM Mobile COE Executive Briefing on ‘Future Outlook for Mobile Security’ will be held on 8 May at the Dialog Future World Auditorium, Excel World Entertainment Park from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Sujit Christy, Director of Layers-7 Seguro Consultoria Ltd., and a panel discussion will follow. Other joining the panel are John Brennan – Head of Mobility at Leapset, Lal Dias – Chief Executive Officer, Sri Lanka CERT, Pradeep De Almeida – Group Chief Technology Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC, and Jayantha Fernando – Program Director/Legal Advisor, Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka. Manju Fernando – CEO/Director, Axienta Ltd. will moderate the discussion. SLASSCOM said mobiles are now ubiquitous. Well over 20 million mobile phones are in use in Sri Lanka. ABI Research recently published research anticipating 8.6 billion smart cards to have been be shipped around the world in 2013. Separate research from Visiongain has estimated that the global mobile security market – which has given rise to the mobile security management market — reached $3.49 billion in 2013. The SLASSCOM Mobile COE Executive Briefing on ‘Future Outlook for Mobile Security’ will examine the emerging landscape for mobile security globally and global best practices in tackling the emerging challenges. Keynote speaker Christy is a security and compliance professional with CISSP, CISA, and CRISC Certifications and has a Diploma in Cyber Law. He is a visiting lecturer at the Department of Criminology, University of Madras, Founder/Charter Secretary of (ISC) 2 Chennai Chapter (1st Chapter to be formed in India), a Board Member of the (ISC) 2 Colombo Chapter and is on the Steering Committee Member and Volunteer with (ISC) 2 Foundation for the Safe and Secure Online Program. Christy is a (ISC) 2 Honoree of the Information Security Leadership Awards 2013 in the Information Security Practitioner Category (first person to receive this award in Sri Lanka) and Recipient of the (ISC) 2 President’s Award for Asia Pacific Region (first person to receive this award in the SAARC region).
