SLASSCOM holds Tech Talks series during National ICT Week

The Sri Lanka Association Software and Services Company (SLASSCOM) has successfully concluded a series of technology forums and workshops to support the inaugural ICT Week which was held from 16 to 22 November with the vision of promoting emerging technologies and trends by creating a platform for best practice sharing and awareness.df

The opening event was UX for Delightful Product Development held on 16 November partnered with IFS, which focused on the impact of a powerful design to provide the best user experience. Addressing the opening event, SLASSCOM Chairman Mano Sekaram stated that SLASSCOM is pleased to bring together these events to commemorate National ICT Week. He also emphasised how vital the IT professionals are to the growth of any industry and the importance of these events providing them a platform to share knowledge and best practices of the companies on trending technologies. 

The second event was Conquer the beast in JavaScript held on 17th last month which assisted enthusiastic developers to get to the next level of JavaScript programming. This session was powered by Leapset Pvt. Ltd. Final tech talk was partnered with Pearson Lanka, Mastering Continuous Delivery held on 18 November which focused on how to keep producing effective software in short cycles and best practices for Continuous Delivery.

The Tech Talk series wrapped up with two full day workshops on 20 November. Smart things connect Smart people was a hands on workshop themed on the ‘Internet of Things’. It was presented and conducted by associates of Zone 24x7 with the support of University of Colombo School of Computing. On the same day, Crosswind Technologies facilitated Scaled Agile Framework workshop which explained how to apply agile practices at enterprise scale. 

SLASSCOM is the national chamber for the IT/BPM industry in Sri Lanka and acts as the catalyst of growth for the Sri Lankan IT and BPM industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encouragement of research and innovation, and by supporting the creation of a progressive national policy framework. It has an ambitious 2022 Vision to become a $5 billion industry, creating 200,000 direct jobs and launching 1,000 start-ups.
