President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday inaugurated the 17th APT Policy and Regulatory Forum (PRF-17) in Colombo.
Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) three-day forum from 24 to 26 July in Colombo is hosted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).
The overall objective of PRF-17 is to bring the telecommunications and ICT policy makers and regulators from the region together to a common platform for a dialogue on issues faced by as a result of the changes taking place in the telecom and ICT sectors, and to provide an opportunity to share and address key issues of concern to the APT members as well as facilitating intra-regional collaboration on policy and regulatory issues as required.
Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Telecommunication Association Areewan Haorangsi welcomed the delegates marking the inauguration of the Forum. She also presented a memento to the President.
The inaugural address was delivered by Chairman of the Sri Lanka Telecommunications Regulatory Commission President’s Secretary Austin Fernando.
The Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka, Secretary to the President Austin Fernando, Director General Kingsley Fernando, Chairman of the Policy and Regulatory Forum Seiji Takagi, Deputy Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity Masanori Kondo and others participated in the event.
