Panasonic, a leading global manufacturer of consumer electronics and mobility devices, has expanded its footprint in Sri Lanka in collaboration with Damro, a top distributer brand in the country to distribute the Panasonic range of smartphones.

Damro, South Asia’s largest furniture manufacturer, is a top brand for the sales and distribution of home appliances, consumer electronics and smartphones in Sri Lanka.

With 142 retail showrooms and an island-wide distribution network spanning across 150 towns and cities, Damro’s recent appointment as Panasonic’s smartphone distributer poses an impressive growth opportunity for both companies. Panasonic and Damro share ambitious plans for the distribution and sales of smartphones in Sri Lanka, as Panasonic aims to become a significant player in the country’s smartphone arena within the next year. Very soon, Panasonic will be introducing its range of 4G enabled smartphones comprising the Eluga L, Eluga L2, Eluga I2 and T45 in Sri Lanka in addition to its existing 3G range.

This partnership was highlighted last week at the opening ceremony of the Hero Cup 2015 – powered by Panasonic Smartphones between Sri Lanka and the West Indies at the Galle International Stadium, where Sujith Gunerathne, General Manager – Damro appliance division, accompanied by Harsha Wijekoon, the head of mobile phones, gifted the Panasonic Eluga S smartphone to the captains of both participating teams.

Sri Lanka Captain Angelo Mathews and West Indies Captain Jason Holder were the recipients of Panasonic’s iconic ‘Blink Play’ smartphone.

Speaking at the occasion, Panasonic India and South Asia Managing Director Manish Sharma said: “We are proud to enhance our new association with Damro in Sri Lanka upon the exciting occasion of the Hero Cup 2015 - powered by Panasonic Smartphones. We look forward to leveraging Damro’s strong channel base and value added distribution network in Sri Lanka. In particular, we aim to cater to the smartphone industry in Sri Lanka by providing the right value options across the consumer spectrum. With localisation being a vital growth strategy, Panasonic aims to reach out to maximum consumers with its wide range of mobile phones offerings.”
