Panasonic enters Lankan smartphone market with Singhagiri

Global electronics heavyweight, Panasonic, launched its mobile phone series in Sri Lanka by extending its innovative product portfolio and services to users in the country. Panasonic introduced its Android-based smartphone series including its internationally acclaimed ELUGA series to the Sri Lankan market. ELUGA is known for its design, superior build quality and unique user interface for single-hand operation, along with its ‘P’ and ‘T’ series, designed particularly for the youth segment. Speaking at the launch, Regional Head – ISAMEA (India, South Asia, Middle East and Africa) Region and President – Panasonic India, Daizo Ito said: “We take great pride in our products for their innovative and technological prowess. We are now taking our products to key international markets and are excited to announce our foray into the Sri Lankan mobile market. This market has immense potential not only for smartphones and features phones, but also for innovative tablets and data products and we hope to make the most of this opportunity.” Also sharing his views at the launch, Panasonic India and South Asia Managing Director Manish Sharma said: “At Panasonic, we strive to bring together innovation with style and affordability, offering users a seamless experience on our devices. With this entry into the new market, our ultimate aim will be to cater to all customer segments in the county and build a strong and robust distribution network to capture a significant share in the Sri Lankan mobile handset market.” Panasonic smartphones will be marketed and distributed in Sri Lanka by leading marketer and distributor Singhagiri Ltd. During his speech at the event, Singhagiri Ltd. Managing Director Mano Maarasinghe said: “The smartphone market in Sri Lanka is growing at an incredible pace with a total of 0.12 million smartphones being sold in Q1-2014.
