P.G. Kumarasingha assumes duties as new Chairman of SLT Group

P. G. Kumarasingha assumed duties as the new Chairman of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Group, the holding company consisting of seven subsidiaries, yesterday, making him the eighth Chairman of SLT following the company’s privatisation in 1996.
A simple ceremony was held at the SLT headquarters at an auspicious time with the participation of the Board of Directors including foreign directors, the Group CEO, subsidiary CEOs, senior management of SLT and trade union members. The Group CEO of SLT Lalith de Silva welcomed Kumarasingha on this occasion.

Kumarasingha, expressing his views at the ceremony said: “I believe the achievements of SLT, especially during the period after privatisation within a highly-competitive environment, were a true team effort for which the entire SLT team is responsible. I take this opportunity to thank the previous chairpersons and the Boards, the Group CEO of SLT and the CEOs of each subsidiary, the respective senior management teams and each and every member of the SLT team for their valuable contribution.
“I am extremely happy to take this opportunity to lead SLT from being a very successful company to one that achieves even greater excellence. Sri Lanka Telecom has a great responsibility towards the people of this country as well as the national economy in lieu of being one of its largest contributors. I am confident that everyone at SLT will support me with dedication, accountability and team spirit in my efforts to make SLT realise broader and bigger dimensions.”
SLT looks forward to upscale growth and vast technological vistas during the tenure of its new Chairman, who has taken the charge of leading from the front to render his maximum for this most respected corporate entity.
Prior to this appointment, Kumarasingha was the CEO/General Manager of the State Timber Corporation and holds the post of Board Director of the Land Reclamation and Development Company Ltd. LRDC Services Ltd. and is also the Financial Consultant for the Araliya Group of Companies Ltd.
Kumarasingha holds a Master of Business Administration from Wayamba University of Sri Lanka, Master of Public Management from Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration, a post Graduate Diploma in Accountancy and Financial Management from University of Sri Jayewardenepura and a Diploma in Project Management from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura among other qualifications. He also counts more than 30 years of rich experience in a multitude of roles in both the State and private sector.
