Payment of fees for Visa Online is made via Lanka Gate Internet Payment Gateway (IPG), the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka said.
The Lanka Gate Internet Payment Gateway (IPG), Sri Lanka’s first Government sector IT payment gateway, is being implemented successfully, said the Department of Immigration and Emigration.
Presidential Advisor and ICTA Chairman Professor P. W. Epasinghe said that in the future, payments for all Government services would be made via the Lanka Gate Internet Payment (IPG) created by ICTA.
From the beginning of this year it has been made obligatory for all tourists to Sri Lanka to obtain their visa online. Within eight days close up on 24,000 tourists have paid visa fees using the Lanka Gate Internet Payment Gateway, the ICTA Chairman said.
Necessary arrangements have been made for the payment of visa fees via Lanka Gate in a very secure and easy way, Professor Epasinghe added.
ICTA eServices Programme Head Kanchana Thudugala pointed out that daily close up on 3,000 foreigners make payment through the Lanka Gate for obtaining their visa.
In addition ICTA Chief Executive Officer Reshan Dewapura said that there were several Government services that could be availed of without making payment to the Lanka Gate Internet Payment Gateway. Among these are train and bus time-tables, current status of applications for national identity cards and the obtaining of vehicle revenue licences.
The only internet payment gateway owned by the Government sector was developed by ICTA according to the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. All Government institutions and banks have been networked for this, Dewapura said.
Reports say that the Government’s income from issue of online visa hit the Rs. 70 million mark within 10 days.
