Being the flagship event of FITIS, INFOTEL has evolved to be the largest technology exhibition held in Sri Lanka and is patronised by businessmen of all disciplines of knowledge, academics, ICT enthusiasts, ICT career seekers, and general public who are increasingly becoming aware of ICT applications as a way of life. The exhibition will feature the widest range of ICT solutions and services and provides a lucrative platform for new business opportunities.
Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology Ranjith Siyambalapitiya acknowledged the efforts made by FITIS to support the Government in its initiatives to make Sri Lanka the ‘Knowledge Hub’ of Asia. This year’s exhibition will mobilise the resources available and showcase their technological advancements and innovations. The Minister also said in his message that this event would help create awareness of the technological developments that challenge our society in the years to come and help us to be competitive in the global arena.

This year’s event has a line-up of sponsors from both the State sector and the business community. The Ministry of Telecommunications and IT and the ICT Agency as the National Partner and have endorsed the event. Sri Lanka Telecom PLC as the Strategic Partner, the Vocational Training Authority of Sri Lanka as a Platinum Sponsor, Wijeya Newspapers as the Print Media Sponsor, E-soft Computer Studies Ltd. as a Gold sponsor, AMCHAM as the ICT Tourism Partner, Samson IT as the Silver sponsor and Gestetner of Ceylon as the Official Office Automation Partner and Digital Signage Solutions Ltd. as the Digital Signage Partner were announced at the launch of INFOTEL 2014 which took place at Waters Edge on 31 July.
The Ministry of Education is also partnering with the associated Career Guidance program. BCS – The Chartered Institute of IT UK, CSSL and SLASSCOM were also named as associated professional and industry bodies. With three more months to go, the organisers invite potential sponsors to give their support to the event in various forms. INFOTEL has in the past received wide publicity throughout the country and the region and this year expects to attract 100,000+ visitors.
FITIS Chairman Chinthaka Wijewickrama in his welcome address said the dynamic pace with which ICT is moving will enable the world to be smart not only in terms of gadgetry and devices in the form of phones, tablets and smart homes but also in smart decision making, taking us to the next level of technology adaptation. INFOTEL 2014 will be the forum where visitors can gain insights into the potential of ICT in business all in one location.
