Mobitel recognised for Excellence in Engineering Services

The national mobile service provider Mobitel was honoured with the ‘Engineering Services’ Award at the prestigious Excellence in Engineering Awards organised by the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) recently for following the best practices in project management designed to operate Mobitel’s sophisticated engineering systems and processes. The awards which was held this year under the theme of ‘Engineering Excellence through Project Excellence’, commended Mobitel for its project excellence of the Stage VII project, the largest network expansion project which consists of more than 1530 2G/3G/LTE nodes, 700 Transmission nodes and more than 430 infrastructural elements.

Mobitel’s network planning and operations in combination with its project management processes have enabled the company to reach new heights. Mobitel has already gained ample recognition both locally and internationally as a strong telco brand by securing the ISO 27001:2005 certification for Information Security Management and hope to continue breaking boundaries. We are proud of this achievement and thank the Institute of Engineers for bestowing us with this prestigious award,” Mobitel Chief Executive Officer Ranjith G. The Annual Excellence in Engineering Awards which was held for the ninth consecutive year recently was established by the Institute of Engineers, Sri Lanka (IESL) to give recognition to individuals, organisations and enterprises in Sri Lanka for their outstanding accomplishments and achievements related to engineering.
