Mobitel opens mTicketing counter at Jaffna Railway Station

Following the recent recommencement of the Colombo-Jaffna railway service, Mobitel yesterday unveiled its latest mTicketing counter at the Jaffna Railway Station. To mark the ceremonial opening,   Sri Lanka Telecom Chairman P.G. Kumarasingha and Sri Lanka Railways General Manager V. Amaratunga declared open the new counter enabling Mobitel customers and commuters from Jaffna to collect their pre-reserved train tickets with ease, prior to departure for a hassle free journey. Sri Lanka Railways Commercial Superintendent Sisira Kumara was also present along with the Station Masters of Sri Lanka Railways. With the vision to expand operations across the country at all railway stations, mTicketing is a 24-hour ticketing service which helps commuters to avoid the hassle of booking tickets while standing in queues.   Enhancing the quality of living in Sri Lanka by transforming the transportation system through a simple and effective mobile reservations service, Mobitel customers would have the opportunity to make train ticket reservations by dialing 365. After providing the name, NIC number, destination information and the number of tickets to be purchased, the customer will receive a reference number subsequent to the confirmation of the booking via SMS.   Train tickets could be collected from special ticket service counters at the Fort Railway Station and more than 30 other mTicketing facilitated train stations countrywide. Ticket collection is also available at all Mobitel branches and online touch points.   Mobitel has expanded its services for the benefit of commuters on the Kandy-Colombo, Trincomalee-Colombo, Colombo-Batticaloa, Colombo-Matara and Vavuniya intercity train routes, the Vavuniya Night Mail, Yaldevi, the Badulla Night Mail, Udarata Menike and Podi Manike as well as for other regions. Further, Mobitel offers the ‘Rajadhani Express’ compartment, a luxury compartment that provides onboard meals, Wi-Fi, television and power outlets for electronic devices as a value addition.
