The National Mobile Service Provider recently announced the launch of its new Customer Care Hotline number – 1717.  The new four-digit hotline is available 24/7 and is open to all members of the public with direct access allowed through any fixed or mobile network in the country. With ‘We Care. Always.

’ as its brand promise, ‘customer care’ is embedded into the very core of Mobitel’s business philosophy and service delivery.  Upholding the highest level of ‘care’ towards its customers is considered not only as the responsibility of the call centre and frontline agents but the duty of each and every staff member.   The many awards and recognitions won by Mobitel in the field of customer service including 3 consecutive awards received as the ‘Mobile Operator with Best Consumer Pull’from 2006 to 2008at the SAARC Voice and Data CEO Conclave awards and being awarded the title of ‘Best in Customer Service’ in the Telecommunications category in an independent survey by TNS Lanka for LIVING magazine, in 2010 are testimony to the high standards of customer care maintained by Mobitel over the years. The new Customer Care Hotline number is being communicated to the general public via communication campaign featuring three of Sri Lanka’s favourite sons, and Mobitel’s Brand Ambassadors – T.M. Dilshan, MahelaJayawardena and Angelo Mathews.   With the introduction of the new Customer Care Hotline the previously used standard 10-digit number 0712 755 777 will be discontinued but not with immediate effect so as to provide a smooth transition for customers already familiar with the old number.  Nevertheless the new number 1717 being much shorter and thus more convenient and memorable is soon expected to take over the entire volume of the inquiries channelled through to Mobitel.
