Microsoft appoints Imran Vilcassim as Country Manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives

Microsoft announced Imran Vilcassim as the new Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives, at their local Partner Awards held last week. Vilcassim will be responsible for leading the company’s commercial and consumer product portfolio, service offerings, corporate reputation, company performance, customer and partner experience as well as overall leadership of operations in Sri Lanka and the Maldives. Commenting on the new appointment, Microsoft Southeast Asia General Manager Jamie Harper said: “Imran is a highly experienced leader, having most recently led our enterprise business in the region which supports some of our largest customers across the country. Imran is a passionate Sri Lankan and his proven leadership capabilities will ensure that Microsoft Sri Lanka continues to support our customers, partners and the community.” The new Country Manager is currently in the process of guiding the company’s transformation from a largely on premise software business to a devices-and-services company, offering compelling and integrated experiences to customers across PCs, tablets and mobile devices. These experiences are delivered via Microsoft’s network of over 100 partners in Sri Lanka. “I am excited to play a pivotal role in enriching the lives of people in the country,” said Vilcassim. “This is a very special time for both Microsoft Sri Lanka, and also Sri Lanka as a whole, as national reconciliation and stabilisation takes hold. During his three year tenure in the role, he expanded the business by over 50% and was a leading advocate of Microsoft Cloud based services. He was also the recipient of the prestigious Microsoft ’Gold Club’ Award twice, awarded by the President of Microsoft Asia Pacific. He holds a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
