Microsoft announced that industry veteren and Australian national Brian Kealey has taken up office as the new Country Manager for Sri Lanka and the Maldives from 1 September 2015.
The new Country Manager will be responsible for leading commercial and consumer product portfolio, service offerings, corporate reputation, company performance, customer and partner experiences both in Sri Lanka and the Maldives, as well as overall leadership of company operations.
Commenting on the new appointment, Microsoft’s General Manager Southeast Asia New Markets, Asia Pacific, Michelle Simmons said: “Brian is a senior leader with over 17 years of diverse technology experience. Apart from leading Microsoft’s South Australian operations, he has held a number of key roles in the company, making him a long term member of our leadership team. He was a key leader in implementing Microsoft’s transition to a more diverse organisation, and is recognised for his leadership and innovation implementing new work practices and modern workstyles. Therefore he is the right choice for this key role and will no doubt play a significant role in taking Sri Lanka and the Maldives to the next level.”
His passion for the start-up sector has lead Brian to establish two Microsoft Innovation Centers in Australia focusing on accelerating early stage businesses, start-ups and student entrepreneurs to create economic value with technology. These centers have trained thousands of entrepreneurs and students, helping to establish dozens of new start-up businesses, creating hundreds of jobs in the process.
With an international pedigree including business operations across Australia, USA, Pacific Islands and South East Asia, Brian’s various roles have included work with globally recognised organisations across internal operations, strategy, consulting and commercial management. Brian has held numerous board member and chairman responsibilities for universities and industry associations. He holds qualifications in Engineering and Technology and postgraduate studies in Risk and Assurance.
