Metropolitan Telecom Services Ltd., an authorised distributor for Micromax Informatics, will launch two new robust Android smartphones in Sri Lanka: The Micromax Bolt (Q346) and Bolt Supreme 2 (Q301).
The launch will target entry-level smartphone buyers searching for innovation, affordability, and build quality; a demographic that makes up a significant portion of non-smartphone users in Sri Lanka. In that respect, Metropolitan shows its on-going commitment to becoming a flagship provider for the local market need.
Metropolitan Telecom Services Director Sanjeev Ariaratnam said, “Micromax has revolutionised the smartphone landscape with novel yet affordable devices. And it is only natural that Metropolitan will launch the Micromax Bolt and Bolt Supreme 2 in Sri Lanka as they are astounding entry-level smartphones.”
The Micromax Bolt (Q346) is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor running on Android 5.1 Lollipop. With a 4.5-inch display, the Bolt features a 5-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front-facing camera. The device comes with 8 GB of built-in storage that can be extended to 32 GB via microSD card, and is to be powered by a 1700 mAh battery, with connectivity options that include dual-SIM, 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
The Micromax Bolt Supreme 2 (Q301) bears some similarities to the Bolt (Q346) but takes on the role of little brother. The Q301 has the same connectivity options and 1.2 Ghz quad-core processor running on Android 5.1 Lollipop but features a toned-down 4-inch display with a 2-megapixel rear and 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Additionally, built-in storage is at 4 GB but can be extended to 32 GB, while the device is to be powered by a 1400 mAh battery.
“Based on the current market trend, the smartphone segment is very important to Micromax. The Q346 and Q301 are expected to be key drivers in the entry-level smartphone market while we plan to launch an exciting new range of smartphones in the future,” added Metropolitan Telecom Services Ltd. Brand Manager Tharindra Niroshan.
Unique to the launch of both smartphones is the availability of them through online channels Wow.lk and MyDeal.lk, reputable Sri Lankan platforms offering an unparalleled digital commerce experience.
“We are ecstatic that more consumers than ever before will be able to obtain these devices! With over 2,000 dealers island-wide and two online platforms, we can ensure that our distribution covers the whole country. At Micromax, we always think about providing consumers with the latest in affordable technology,” said Micromax Informatics FZE representative Sanjeewa Hewagamage.
The Bolt Supreme 2 (Q301) – priced at Rs. 5,990 – and Micromax Bolt (Q346) – priced at Rs. 8,490 – will be first available online through Wow.lk and MyDeal.lk., and later through the Metropolitan dealer network.
