Diversified conglomerate Laugfs Holdings was recognised for its in-house developed Laugfs Bid Plus software at the prestigious National Best Quality Software Awards (NBQSA) 2014.
Bid Plus won a Merit award under the ‘e-Inclusion & e-Community’ category which recognises software which adds value to the community and society at large. This system was developed by the Group IT of Laugfs Holdings according to a concept of Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya and Managing Director U.K. Thilak De Silva.
BiD Plus is a platform through which Laugfs employees can sell new and used items within the Laugfs Group while contributing towards raising funds for welfare. Users post pictures of the item to be sold, set a closing date for bidding and the countdown begins, after which buyers bid for these items and payment is made through an online ‘wallet’. A unique feature of the system implemented by Laugfs is that for each purchase made, a minimum of 5% of the amount received has to be donated towards the welfare fund.
NBQSA is an internationally accepted event organised annually by the Chartered Institute for IT Sri Lanka (BCSSL) section. The objectives of the NBQSA competition are to provide recognition to outstanding achievements which contribute to the development of ICT, to create a window to gain international recognition for locally developed ICT products and to improve standards and the quality of local ICT products and services.
Established in the year 1995, Laugfs Holdings is one of the largest and most diversified business conglomerates in Sri Lanka. It currently provides goods and services in over 15 separate sectors including energy, automotive, engineering, leisure, education and property development.
