Sri Lanka’s first online photobook creation service has been launched by JAMPHOTO Ltd., the country’s pioneer photobook producer, offering enthusiasts a facility to design and order their photobooks via www.jamphotobooks.com
One year after the company’s launch, JAMPHOTO, an Associate company of Papyrus Papers Ltd., has deployed the world’s leading photo gift software platform on its website, enabling visitors to download the software free of charge, design and layout their photobooks, and upload the finished photobooks for printing and delivery.
The software solution comprises a professional Desktop Designer, full ecommerce solution and comprehensive production module – all sitting on top of a powerful Product Management Platform designed to give photobook producers full flexibility and control.
“Producing photobooks online is a growing trend in many parts of the world, and we are delighted to once again break new ground in this sphere by launching the facility in Sri Lanka,” said Ashan Abeyesundere, Chairman and CEO of JAMPHOTO.
“Professional as well as amateur photographers have shown keen interest in the photobook options we offer, and we expect the online platform to take our services to a larger customer segment. We will offer photobooks in standard sizes of 6”x 8”, 8” x 8”, 8” x 11” and 12” x 12” with beautiful hardcover binding.”
In January 2013, JAMPHOTO opened its 4,000 square foot print and production facility in Colombo. Equipped with a sophisticated HP Indigo Digital Press, the unit currently offers high quality, custom-made photobooks to the professional segment and its services are already very popular with wedding and event photographers who wish to produce elegant photobooks instead of standard albums.
The new online photobook service allows anyone with a computer and internet connection to download desktop design software and templates to compile their own photobooks with a wide choice of page sizes, backdrops, frames and cover themes.
Once the photobook is designed, the customer can choose either art paper or photo paper and the website will compute the cost of the photobook. The completed photobook in PDF format can then be uploaded to the JAMPHOTO server, and the company undertakes to deliver the printed photobook to the customer.
“The convenience of this service is amazing,” Abeyesundere said. “Another attraction is that it enables customers to take their own time to design and layout their photobooks exactly the way they like, before submitting them for printing. The element of fun and creative inspiration that is generated by this facility has hooked people around the world, and we are confident it will be very well received in Sri Lanka.”
