Intel challenge trophy 2011 unbeaten on seven

The ICT Annual Cricket Tournament organised by the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) was held recently for the seventh year running amidst many participants in the IT industry.

Intel rendered its continued support towards the tournament by being the chief sponsor for yet another year and adding weight to its reputation as being the pioneers of the modern IT industry in the country. Additionally to the tournament being carried out successfully, Intel’s vision of creating goodwill among all IT entities in the country was further strengthened with the participation and sponsorship of Metropolitan, Kaspersky, Redington and Esys Technologies. On the whole the cricket tournament was a successful one and was a true example sportsmanship and entertainment.  

Moving onto the tournament in detail, the final was contested between Esys Technologies Ltd and Caddy Shack Ltd. The match was keenly fought out between both teams and as a result Caddy Shack Ltd. emerged as the champions while Esys Technologies Ltd. had to be content with being the runners-up. Chandran of Caddy Shack was adjudged as the man of the match owing to his outstanding performance with both bat and ball.

Speaking at the conclusion of the event, Indika De Zoysa - Country Business Manager, Intel EM Ltd said, “Since cricket is a global sport that breaks through boundaries, Intel has taken it upon itself to promote unity among IT corporations in Sri Lanka by means of competition on the sporting field.” Moreover Intel EM Ltd is of the view that by being a part of such events that it is by no means limited to offering IT services but also provides a better environment for IT companies to understand themselves and function accordingly for the betterment and growth of IT in the country and in the world.
