ICTA initiated Sri Lankan delegation at Gartner symposium in Australia

Initiated by the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA) a 14-member delegation participated in a Gartner Symposium/ ITxpo in Gold Coast, Australia recently. The delegation comprising three representatives from ICTA and 11 from exhibitor companies made a valuable impact under one Sri Lanka Pavilion facilitated by ICTA. The symposium was hosted at the Gold Coast Convention Centre. The participant count exceeded 1,550. Out of these over 600 were Chief Information Officers (CIOs) and their buying teams. The exhibitor companies,  iContext, Orion City, Scienter, Tech One Global, Wakensys and zMessenger were provided a platform to display their exhibits  among leading technology providers in the world. Among these top technology providers were Microsoft, Google, VMWare, IBM, Airwatch, salesforce, CaTechnologies and Infosys. The Sri Lanka delegates were able to interact with over 150 CXO level personnel of corporates such as BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Cochlear, Kofax, Panduit and Callahan Innovation. In addition the Sri Lankan delegates had the opportunity to powwow with Australian and New Zealand government staff. Among participant companies, some were able to find partners and others warm leads for potential partnerships and end-customers. Gartner, Inc. is one of the world’s leading information technology research and advisory companies. The institution delivers the technology-related insight to CIOs and senior IT leaders in corporations and government agencies. Gartner Symposium/ITxpo is one of the world’s most important gatherings of CIOs and senior IT executives. In 2013 it was held in Florida, Cape Town, Tokyo, Goa, Gold Coast and is scheduled to be held in Sao Paulo and Barcelona. Sri Lanka’s first engagement as a sponsor was at the Gartner Outsourcing and IT Services Summit held in London, UK in 2011. It was a country promotion effort in which ICTA too participated.
