Use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) effectively, has become a key element for the agri-business sector. The Sri Lanka School of Agriculture, Past Students General Association (SAPSA) will be presenting an evening lecture on “ICT for agri-business” on Wednesday 19 June at the Lighthouse Galley Hotel, Chaithya Road, Colombo 01.
The lecture will be delivered by the Department of Agriculture’s Director Information and Communication Dr. Rohan Wijekoon. Dr. Wijekoon, being one of the most senior Directors in the Department of Agriculture, is well known for his innovation and expertise in the information and communication field. He graduated from the University of Peradeniya and completed his Masters in Agriculture extension at the University of Reading, United Kingdom. He obtained his PhD in “Digital Media Design” from the University of Western Sydney Nepean. Dr. Wijekoon has won many national and international awards for his outstanding achievements.
SAPSA will be organising a number of events to mark the 25th anniversary of the association which will be celebrated in 2014. Enhancing agricultural knowledge within the stakeholders of agri-business sector is one of the objectives set by SAPSA. ‘ICT for agri-business’ is first in the series of lectures.
