Hutch, a name synonymous with value for money mobile solutions to its customers, has just launched a service offering that is a first for Sri Lanka. Busy Tunes, its latest innovative product, is a service that will provide canned or pre recorded messages which customers can activate when they wish to inform callers that they are unable to take their call. And even more significant, this is the first time such a service is being offered by a local mobile operator.
Quite a variant from the standard voice message service, Busy Tunes consists of canned messages to handle many situations that most of us generally find ourselves in; thereby providing a convenient way for the calling party to get a pretty good idea why the call cannot be taken by the one who is being called. Some messages are standard in tonality while some others take on a more ‘fun’ approach.
Hutch General Manager Marketing Sanjaya Senarath said that this service was intended to suit today’s busy world of constantly needing to be on call.
“While the mobile phone has made people instantly contactable it can also be a source of disturbance to those who are unable to pick up a call at a given moment. At these times most of us have to let the phone ring continuously or cut the call and hope that the caller would understand that we are busy. However, this leads to bad phone etiquette and could also be perceived as rude by the calling party. Busy Tunes from Hutch is a perfect solution for these situations and would avoid probable misunderstandings or wrong perceptions. By activating a Busy Tune you could now inform the caller that you are busy.”
Hutch has Busy Tunes for just about any situation be it just being ‘busy,’ ‘at a meeting,’ being ‘at the gym,’ ‘at class,’ ‘out at dinner,’ unable to answer due to ‘bad weather,’ ‘at a movie,’ ‘at doctors,’ ‘not well,’ ‘driving,’ ‘sleeping’ or the phone being on ‘low battery’. Some messages are fairly standard while others bring out the ‘fun’ element of the message by being customised to suit the particular situation.
Busy Tunes are offered in all three languages and are free of charge during the promotional period. Hutch is certain that Busy Tunes will be another of its VAS services which will be greatly appreciated by their customers, as much as or even more so than the recent service it launched during Vesak, giving a full rundown of where to go and what to see regarding thoran sites.
He added: “This is what we aim to do with all our VAS offerings. We want to give our customers the best value for their money. With the Vesak SMS we made life a lot easier for our loyal customers. Even though we had to place a higher cost on the SMS, it was a service that was extremely well received by our customer base. With Busy Tunes too, we have tried to anticipate and deal with any situation that may deem it impossible for our customers to answer the phone and allow them to communicate that situation in the best possible way to their caller.”
“With busy tunes we have strived to think of a variety of situations that are presented to us in our day to day lives and have provided a Busy Tune for each of these situations in the friendliest manner possible. We are confident that this service will be embraced by our subscribers while also making them smile.”
