Huawei, Sri Lanka’s fastest growing smartphone, announced that its sales during the month of November reached Rs. 500 million, which is an increase of 200% compared to FY14.
A series of aggressive marketing promotion campaigns and the introduction of innovative products such as the G7 Plus, Y6 and the Honor range have propelled the brand to achieve this feat.
Huawei’s sole distributor Singer Sri Lanka Plc through its distribution and reach as well as its undisputed after sales service has facilitated this growth in Sri Lanka. The quality of Huawei smartphones and the after sales service backed by the two-year comprehensive warranty from Singer has not only enabled consumers to experience and own a smartphone device but also experience a greater service true to Huawei and Singer Sri Lanka’s customer satisfaction focus, which is central to its success.
Huawei Sri Lanka CEO Shunli Wang said: “We have intensified our investments to the country and we remain bold and focused in order to achieve our ultimate goal. The Consumer Business Group has played a vital role in our local performance, and I wish to congratulate our team for all the hard work they have bestowed.”
At the start of November, Huawei Sri Lanka launched ‘Huawei Dream World 2015’, a seasonal consumer promotion targeting the festival season. From 1 November until 31 December Huawei consumers will be eligible to win an exciting fully-sponsored all-inclusive world tour of Europe, the Middle East and South East Asia.
All one has to do is purchase a Huawei smartphone this festive season and stand a chance to explore their favourite destination. The competition has immensely boosted the sales volumes as the brand continuously reaches out to all parts of Sri Lanka.
Commenting about the development, Huawei Device Sri Lanka Country Head Henry Liu explained: “For us the target is very simple, which is to achieve the number one smartphone brand position in Sri Lanka. Our focus has graduated to intensively strengthening our customer care and service offering as we enter a stage of continued product introductions, offering the best to our customers in Sri Lanka.”
The company earlier in September announced that it is aiming to become the number one seller of smartphones in Sri Lanka by Q4 FY16. As at the end of October 2015, the South East Asia region’s overall smartphone shipment increased by 30% YOY.
Singer Sri Lanka Plc Group Chief Executive Officer Asoka Pieris commented: “The partnership with Huawei is a win-win-win situation for Huawei, Singer and above all its growing customer base. Huawei has identified that technology should be accessible to all of our consumers in the country. As the exclusive national distributor, we are constantly driving our service offering and we are strengthening our distribution and retail network in a collaborated effort to increase accessibility to the latest technologically advanced devices from Huawei.”
Huawei is striving to achieve the goals of $ 20 billion sales, through a 100 million global smartphone output.
The company is strategically investing in new areas including smart wearable devices and smart homes. With its advantage in mobile broadband connection, Huawei is aiming to provide better and smarter service to consumers by identifying opportunities of Internet of Vehicles and Internet of Things, combining big data with cloud service and establishing a hardware+software+service business model.
Data from GFK, one of the largest market research organisations in the world, shows that from March to September Huawei was leading China’s smartphone market with shares of 12.9%, 13.6%, 14.4%, 15.2%, 14.9%, 14.9% and 15.2% respectively. In August, Huawei occupied 27.5% in high-end smartphone market pricing from 3000 to 4000 yuan, only next to Apple with a 30.1% market share.
