HP launches powerful new business and personal computing portfolios

  By Sarah Hannan HP recently launched a broad portfolio of PCs that evolved the direction of desktop PCs providing with powerful and progressive designs for their new devices to cater to the demands of its consumers and enterprises. The products that were introduced in Colombo from the 8 to 9 October included HP EliteOne/EliteDesk 800 series, HP ProOne/ProDesk 600 series, HP ProBook 400 series, HP ZBooks, HP Z Workstations, HP Z Displays, HP SlateBook x2, HP Slate7 and HP Slate21 All-in-One. HP Asia Emerging Countries Market Development Manager Notebooks Faraz Noorani presented the new products under the notebook series. “The unique features of our new notebook range are that consumers could open the notebook to access its hardware, there is a 40% decrease in the thickness, efficient power saving enabling a longer battery life and the development of HP’s very own software to be compatible with its hardware,” he added.     HP EliteBook 800 series: The ideal travel companion The HP EliteBook 800 series notebooks are engineered with the security and management features required by enterprise IT, but are customisable to fit the needs of businesses of all sizes. The new series offers Ultrabook qualification for selected notebooks, and features a thinner and lighter profile ideal for travellers and a sophisticated design in a rich graphite black with meteorite grey accent inspired by high-performance automobiles. It meets MIL-STD 810G testing for impressive toughness and reliability, with a magnesium unibody chassis further reinforced with aluminium accents and featuring and optional back-lit keyboard to maintain productivity in low-light settings. A durable drop-jaw hinge Ethernet port ensures reliable connectivity without the need for a dongle or other adapter, while HP Trust Circles ensures that only assigned contacts can access critical files.     HP ProBook 400 series: Proven quality and durability meets stylish design The HP ProBook 400 series notebook PCs are a complete portfolio of five reliable SMB notebooks designed for cost-conscious customers who want to work smarter without compromising design. Offered in 17.3, 15.6, 14, and 13.3 inch flat-panel screen sizes, and featuring a range of powerful processors from Intel and AMD, the new HP ProBook 400 series is up to 36% thinner and 18% lighter than previous-generation notebooks. It also features a stylish meteorite grey casing with aluminium accents that aligns with HP’s new design DNA to create a unified identity, brand alignment and common user experience across HP PC and printing solutions. This series will positively impact SMBs with quick, long-lasting productivity through a new hybrid hard drive option that offers the responsiveness of an solid state drive (SSD) with the capacity of a traditional hard drive, connectivity options that include WWAN and the peace of mind of HP Client Security. Additionally, the notebooks are Skype ready and feature rich DTS Sound+ for premium-quality audio and video conferencing. Introducing the new range of Desktop series HP Asia Emerging Countries Market Development Manager Desktop Eddy Soh further reiterated on the features introduced for desktops: “We are introducing HP Client Security Suite, File Sanitiser and Password Manager Application to increase the safety of data and identity and improve performance of desktops.”     HP ProOne/ ProDesk series: Reliability in a stylish, long-lasting package The HP ProOne and ProDesk 600 series feature business AiO and desktop PCs with up-to-date designs and a choice of the latest 4th generation Intel Core processors at an affordable price. Each device allows users to easily meet everyday business needs with a choice of Windows 8, Windows 7 or a variety of Linux options. HP Support Assistant management tools and robust HP Client Security applications protect data, device and identity. Productivity is increased with HP ePrint for quick and easy wireless printing, as well as DTS Sound for rich audio sound. HP EliteOne/ EliteDesk series: Powerful business computing meets elegant design HP’s EliteOne and EliteDesk 800 series are HP’s most powerful business AiO and desktop PCs with the broadest range of distinctively designed form factors to fit the way business work today. HP Elite 800 series desktops are powered by the latest 4th generation Intel Core processors for maximum performance and crisp graphics, as well as optional new caching options and solid state drives (SSD) that provide faster access to data and apps. Moreover HP workstations provide tool-less design where you can easily plug in any hardware without having to use tools. It also carries a liquid cooling system on high-performing workstations, HP Remote Graphic System (RGS), DreamColour that hosts up to 1 billion colours and is certified by eco-labels.”     HP reinvents the mobile workstation With the introduction of the HP ZBook portfolio, we have reinvented the mobile workstation and infused it with the HP Z DNA that customers around the world have come to recognise. The new HP ZBook Mobile Workstations now feature a new thinner and lighter industrial design. The HP ZBook family includes the world’s first workstation Ultrabook,; the HP ZBook 14, as well as the HP ZBook 15 and 17. Designed for workstation-class professionals that demand mobility the new HP ZBook Mobile Workstations feature; 4th Generation Haswell dual-core and quad-core processor options and next-generation graphic technologies from NVIDIA and AMD including, the newly announced Keplar-based professional graphics from NVIDIA. The HP ZBook Mobile Workstations all feature innovative too-free chassis for easy upgrades and serviceability. Reliable workstation performance and scalability at an affordable price Designed for heavy around-the-clock workloads, the HP Z230 Workstation series delivers next generation processor and graphics technologies in two redesigned chassis; a compact yet expandable tower offering a capable small form factor. High-performance and productivity options for the Z230 SFF include the latest Intel Xeon processors and discreet graphics options that support as many as six independent displays, enabling immersive and productive work environments.     HP Z Displays provide excellent image accuracy Adjustability and mission-critical reliability optimised for professional use in commercial environments the HP Z Display is built with IPS Gen 2 panel. It delivers a power saving of nearly 26% compared to the HP’s first-generation IPS technology products. HP also announced the new HP Z27i and Z30i IPS Displays which are ideal for designers, content creators and knowledge workers across the enterprise that need outstanding image accuracy and ergonomically adjustable. The new displays provide excellent coverage of the sRGB colour space, the standard colour space for the web, and for the majority of engineering, creative and professional applications. The displays also feature accurate colour across wide viewing angles up to 178 degrees, improving team collaboration. HP Sri Lanka Country Manager Printing and Personal Systems Khawaja Waqas Masud stated that Sri Lanka is the first Asian country to experience its new portfolio: “End users require the right PC for them to succeed on the job, with those needs encompassing a broad combination of power, productivity, manageability and security. HP’s new portfolio of business PCs take the desktop to the next level with incredibly powerful and stylish devices featuring the latest management, touch interface and security technologies to address a wide range of employee and customer-facing business scenarios. “Professional customers rely on trusted partners to provide technology solutions that are tested and certified for the mission-critical applications they run. The HP Z brand has become a hallmark for professional products engineered to the highest standards; the expansion of the Z portfolio demonstrates HP’s commitment to the professional market that many other vendors have abandoned.” Speaking of the Android based consumer products Masud stated: “People need mobility and flexibility in their computing devices for effortless access to their content anytime, anywhere from any device. HP is designing the next-generation devices that couple the popular Android environment with the new touch experiences to help them connect, share and create in ways they never imagined.” Introducing the HP Slate range and its features, Noorani stated that Android OS are taking up a wider market in hand held devices:     HP SlateBook x2: Next-generation form factor The HP SlateBook x2 offers the full functionality of a notebook with a removable screen that also is a sleek tablet. By releasing the magnetic hinge, the user can switch between the two form factors, tablet and notebook PC. The result is a device that is 100% tablet, 100% notebook which is also 100% android. The HP SlateBook x2 also features Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and delivers the Google experience with services like Google Now, Google Search, Gmail, YouTube, Google Drive and Google+ Hangouts for multi person video chat as well as access to apps and digital content through Google Play. Equipped with NVIDIA Tegra 4 mobile processor, the SlateBook x2 enables people to access the TegraZone app and experience Tegra 4 optimised games. The 1080p Full HD 10.1 inch touchscreen display delivers crisp lines, sharp images and precision colour while reducing glare. The SlateBook also includes up to 64 GB of storage and DTS Sound+ Solution for accessing and enjoying photos, music and videos. The desktop range for Slate was introduced by Soh elaborating on the features of HP Slate21 All-in-One.     HP Slate21 All-in-One: Android world at home The HP Slate21 All-in-One allows people to magnify their Android world at home with a Full HD touchscreen and is ideal for family activities, providing easy access to entertainment and productivity features and fun Android apps. Offering a large 21.5 inch Full HD diagonal reclining IPS touchscreen with wide-viewing angles, friends and family can easily enjoy a shared entertainment experience. With dual-band technology, people can stream music or movies and browse the web at the same time, and built-in DTS Sound technology offers a rich theatre-like experience. Comprising pre-installed HP TrueVision HD Web cam and Wireless Direct enabling users to share videos, photos and data between devices without the need for a network connection and provides multi-user support with the latest Android OS Jelly Bean 4.2. Additionally, it offers speed and performance with a powerful Tegra 4 quad-core NVIDIA processor, as well as an intuitive optical touchscreen with true pinch and zoom functionality.
