An at event held recently, Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi Ltd., together with Millennium Information Technologies (MillenniumIT), Sri Lanka’s premier technology solutions provider, announced the launch of Hitachi’s Virtual Storage Platform (VSP), the industry’s first three dimensional scaling platform to the Sri Lankan market.

Hitachi’s VSP enables organisations to scale up, out and deep for unprecedented levels of agility and cost savings in their virtualised data centres and in combination with the new Hitachi Command Suite management software, offers best-in-class performance, capacity and open, multivendor storage virtualisation for large businesses and enterprise organisations. Together, these solutions represent a major milestone in continued Hitachi Data Systems commitment to transform data centres into dynamic information centres where access to blocks, files and content is seamless and resides in a fluid and virtualised environment.

“Hitachi has a long history of innovation and industry-leading technologies since first introducing heterogeneous storage virtualisation within the storage system,” said Terrance Maximus Tangit, Managing Director, Emerging Markets & Indonesia, Hitachi Data Systems ASEAN.

Today, only the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform and Hitachi Command Suite provide the scalability and integration that will transform the data centre with new levels of agility, flexibility, performance and sustainability. With unique 3D scaling and management, customers can deliver capacity and computing resources as quickly as virtual servers are created.

“Sri Lankan enterprises can greatly benefit from latest storage technology from Hitachi because this new technology can very quickly help our customers create the business edge in the robust growing Sri Lankan economy,” added Tangit.

“This exciting partnership with MillenniumIT is a tremendous step forward because we are launching new technologies like the VSP in the Sri Lankan market together with a world class IT Solution Provider; highly reputed for best customer satisfaction and solutions delivery track record ,” emphasised Tangit.

“The data centre strategy of organisations are transforming rapidly,” said Faiq Faaiz, Executive VP of MillenniumESP. “They are increasingly leveraging storage centric solutions and servers are becoming periphery. We are pleased to partner with HDS, a market innovator in the storage platform space. Their strong customer focus complements MillenniumIT’s global aspirations and we will continue to invest in training, infrastructure and market development to grow our storage solutions business even further.”

The Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform is the only storage architecture that scales three dimensionally to help customers adapt flexibly for performance, capacity and multivendor storage asset utilisation.

“Today’s data centres are reaching an inflection point, evolving into something that is more agile, scalable and efficient,” said Roger W. Cox, research vice president, Gartner, Inc. “Storage vendors that deliver on the critical requirements, such as 3D scaling, are what enterprises are looking for to transform their data centre into an infrastructure that meets the demanding requirements of today’s virtualised environment.”

Built on a heritage of market-leading innovation, the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform and Hitachi Command Suite provide organisations with a reliable, dynamic and open architecture that helps lower the total cost of ownership (TCO) in the first year and will future proof their data centres. It includes a proven services organisation and network of partners to help reduce operational and capital costs, lower implementation risks, transition to a new environment, and extend the life of current assets.
