FITIS launches ‘The IT Zone’ at Deyata Kirula 2014

The Federation of IT Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), the apex body of the ICT industry in Sri Lanka, took part in the ‘Deyata Kirula 2014’ exhibition held in Kuliyapitiya from 21 February to 1 March 2014.
Covering an extent of more than 150 acres, the exhibition had more than 600 stalls, put up by tri-services, State sector agencies, departments, corporations, private sector and several semi-government sector organisations.
FITIS was instrumental in launching the ‘The IT Zone’ at Deyata Kirula at the Kuliyapitiya Central College which consisted of many participants such as E Soft Metro Campus, Barclays Trading, Sala Enterprises, Farh Tech Ltd., Micromax, Samsung, PC Labs Computers, Winsys Networks and LM Soft that had stalls in this section featuring their products and services with the aim of building awareness amongst the residents of these regions.
Ministry of Telecom and IT Secretary Gotabhaya Jayarathna, who visited The IT Zone, commended FITIS and the participating organisations of The IT Zone for bringing much-needed awareness to the region of the type of services and products available in the ICT arena.
FITIS Chairman Thamrajah Suresh stated: “At FITIS we strive to shape and lead the strategic direction of the ICT industry in the country and to achieve prosperity for the nation. Launching The IT Zone at Deyata Kirula was our way of giving an opportunity for both businesses and students in this region to enhance their knowledge and build awareness on the type of services that is provided by the ICT sector. It gave businesses the platform to make use of certain services that could make their own businesses operate more efficiently, whilst students got the opportunity to communicate directly and network with ICT professionals and gain an insight into the kind of opportunities available in the market.”
FITIS, which was set up with the purpose of giving a much-needed focal point for the ICT industry in Sri Lanka, consists of member chapters that include the Sri Lanka Association for the Software Industry – SLASI (Software Chapter), Sri Lanka Computer Vendors’ Association – SLCVA (Hardware Chapter), Association of Computer Training Organisations – ACTOS (Training Chapter), Licensed Internet Service Providers Association – LISPA/TPA (Telecommunications Chapter) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association – ISACA (Professional Chapter).
