Sri Lanka’s leading technology distributor, EZY Technologies introduced three Gigabyte laptops yesterday to Sri Lanka with Gigabyte Technology Co. Ltd., located in Taiwan.

EZY Technologies established in 2004 has strived to help brand owners such as Gigabyte to reach Sri Lankan clients with innovative products and gain market share. They have seen increase market growth with the desired market share, and thus big names such as Gigabyte began working with EZY Technologies from 2010.

On the other hand, Gigabyte Technologies Co. Ltd. is a known leading IT brand that produces motherboards, notebooks, desktop PCs, and other various kinds of entertainment devices needed in the digital and networking world. Gigabyte laptops have been launched into the market as an affordable option that comes in with a two-year warranty. Gigabyte is the world’s No. 1 motherboard manufacturer.

At the launch of Gigabyte laptops, EZY Technologies along with Gigabyte Technology showcased the newest ultrabooks: P2542G Gaming Notebook, U2442N Extreme Ultrabook and U2440 which are slim, yet stunningly powerful, easy to use and light.

EZY Technologies CEO Shafraz Hamzadeen mentioned: “New devices make portability and gaming an enriching experience.”

Speaking on the P2542G Gaming Notebook, Gigabyte South Asia Regional Sales Manager Joseph Praveen said that the gaming notebook has a high performance level and high quality graphics which is designed for gamers alone.

Gigabyte Senior Specialist Hanif Wang, also speaking on the product said: “The display comes in a flashy yellow that distinguishes Gigabyte Ultrabooks from the rest. We want people to look at it and be like that’s a GIGABYTE product.”

“The P2542G packs a powerful 3rd Generation Intel Core i7 Quad-Core processor and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660M with GDDR5 2GB VRAM that provides blazing performance which is great for handling extreme multitasking and graphic-intensive games.” As stated by Wang, it is 222 per cent higher in graphics.

Wang also spoke about the weight difference in regard to other Ultrabooks, stating: “They are quite heavy with a weight of 3.6 kg. But our Ultrabooks are one kilogram lighter and very easy to carry.”

The P2542G in addition has four terrific dual-channel stereo speakers and a woofer speaker using THX TruStudio Pro Technology which naturally eliminates the need to plug into a speaker.  This 15.6-inch Notebook features a LED- backlit HD display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution, Blue Ray drive, and USB 3.0 ports along with Wi-Di. As far as the battery life is considered, with NVIDIA Optimus Technology the Ultrabooks can live up to five hours.

Speaking on the U2442N Extreme Ultrabook, Wang said: “It is thin, stunningly powerful, has elegant designs, is fantastic to look at and amazing to touch.” This 14-inch Ultrabook is only 18.5-21.0 mm thick with a weight of 1.59kg. It has full connectivity with two USB 3.0 ports, an automatic light sensing backlight keyboard and includes an Ethernet port, 8GB DDR3 RAM, 750GB hard disk drive, and Bluetooth 4.0. “It has the capability of downloading 60 songs in one second,” stated Wang.  However, most Ultrabooks nowadays lose out on performance due to having a compact system built into a light and thin product with extended battery life. Praveen explained how Gigabyte is able to balance power and performance, stating: “At Gigabyte, we have something different to offer. We use standard voltage processor in our Ultrabooks and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M discrete graphics.”

He also further stated that Gigabyte Ultrabooks may look and feel similar to other Ultrabooks, but when compared to performance, they offer much more.

Hamzadeen revealed that Gigabyte Ultrabooks are ‘a hybrid of laptops and tablets’. “We try to give you the best of both,” he concluded.
