Etisalat Lanka has yet again taken steps towards innovating mobile solutions to suit the Sri Lankan community living and working in the UAE by launching the best market rates for calls, SMS and Data, to and from the Middle East. This solution is available for both post-paid and prepaid customers, where they can retain their local Etisalat number or take an Etisalat SIM when travelling to the UAE. This is a significant effort to relieve the burden of costly communication, especially for the migrant worker population. Etisalat offers this service to ensure boundless connectivity between their consumers in the Middle East and their loved ones back home. Outgoing call rates start at Rs. 11 from Sri Lanka to UAE, Rs. 15 from UAE to Sri Lanka exclusively available for Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Ajman, making Etisalat rates lower than local IDD rates within UAE. Calls, SMS and Data (per MB) are also priced at Rs. 15 when using an Etisalat Lanka SIM in the UAE. Elaborating on the company’s latest introduction, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Etisalat Lanka, Wail Salman, said, “Optimising synergies with Etisalat Group’s direct network in the Middle East, we have adapted to deliver significant economies of scale for call rates between the countries. Migrant workers play a key contributing role to the country’s economy and are often struggling to be in touch with their loved ones, due to high communication costs. We at Etisalat make it our duty to facilitate boundless connectivity for all Sri Lankans, in a better and cost-effective way.” According to the ‘Migrant Profiles Sri Lanka’ published by the Ministry of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare; it is estimated that over 250,000 Sri Lankans migrate annually in search of better prospects overseas, while the total labour migrants from Sri Lanka is approximately over 1.8 million.Given the current state and the hardshipsendured by this community, the brand collaborated their technology with the needs of the consumer, to deliver a unique mobile experience; unlimited by matter or distance. Further commenting on Etisalat Lanka’s solution to maximising cross border efficiencies and pioneering on a new era of accessibility of international services, Janaka Jayalath, Chief Commercial Officer of Etisalat Lanka, said, “We are proud to be part of this privileged initiative by offering the best rates for travellers commuting in and out of the UAE.
