eCybersec Ltd., a leading information security consulting and services providing company and the pioneer in application security, walked away with the gold award for the Hacking Challenge organised by Sri Lanka CERT|CC at the fifth Annual National Conference on Cyber Security Week 2012 held on 5 December at Taj Samudra, Colombo.
Sri Lanka CERT|CC (Computer Emergency Readiness Team|Co-ordination Centre) was established as Sri Lanka’s national CERT, by the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA). It is registered as a private limited liability company, and is a fully owned subsidiary of the ICTA and acts as the focal point for cyber security for the nation.
The Hacking Challenge is a contest for security professionals to attack and defend an actual network within four hours. Participants included technical security professionals, network administrators, system administrators and students of information security courses.
Receiving the gold award from Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, eCybersec emerged as the proud winner of the Hacking Challenge. CEO Sanjee Balasuriya stated that by winning the Hacking Challenge, eCybersec has proved its highest capabilities in understanding the security issues pertaining to emerging technologies and its expertise in being able to successfully develop platforms to mitigate the risks posed by upbeat technologies.
