Dialog launches second generation of own-branded smartphones

Sri Lanka’s top mobile services operator Dialog Axiata PLC added two Android-based Dialog smartphones to its existing portfolio, increasing the options available for those seeking affordable smartphones, while widening the portals of accessibility to mobile internet usage to a wider representation of Sri Lankans. Following the highly successful i-series range of smartphones, the launch of the K-series smartphones provides an alternative solution to Sri Lankans to experience the smartphone capabilities at an affordable price. The K-series Android based smartphone produced in collaboration with leading manufacturers is ideal for Sri Lankans seeking to upgrade their mobile device which will empower them to have access to the world of information, entertainment and social media. “With the launch of the K-series range, more and more Sri Lankans have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of a quality smartphone at an exceptionally affordable price, backed by an after sales service that is the value and guarantee the Dialog brand brings with it,” Amali Nanayakkara, Group Chief Marketing Officer, Dialog Axiata PLC said. “We believe the K-Series represents a tipping point in the evolution of the market, bringing a new wave of consumers to the world of smartphones.” The Dialog K-Series Android 4.0 smartphones are supported by a one year Dialog warranty. The new K-Series Dialog branded smartphone series features two models – the Dialog K35 (with a 3.5” TFT screen) at Rs. 9,990 and the Dialog K45 (with a 4.5 IPS colour display) at Rs. 24,990, which includes network benefits, that will give the user the future of 3G networking capabilities, bringing the World Wide Web to their fingertips. Dialog smartphones are based on the original and fully featured Android 4.0 (Ice-cream Sandwich) Operating System and assures Sri Lankan mobile users of the ‘full Android experience’ inclusive of Google Play. At 9.9mm thick and weighing just 140g for the K45 and 12.8mm thick and 116g for the K35, the K-Series is a compact series of handsets, with a battery that is good for 240 hours standby and eight hours of 3G talk time for the K45, while the K35 has a battery life of 120 hours standby time and four hours of 3G talk-time. The K-Series smartphones are fully featured devices with functionality on par with the most advanced devices in the market. The Dialog K45 smartphone comes with a 1.2 GHz Dual Core Processor and 4GB storage on board, while the K35 has a 1 GHz processor with 4GB of internal storage. Both smartphones are equipped with Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM radio and a microSD card slot as standard features. All Dialog smartphones come preloaded with a range of Dialog Apps like MyTV, Dapp, Traveloid, etc. Other preinstalled applications include Gmail, Google Maps and Google Talk.
