CSSL elects Executive Council for 2013

The Annual General Meeting of the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) was recently held at the Galadari Hotel and the new executive council for the year 2013 was elected.

The CSSL was established in 1976 in Sri Lanka by a group of dedicated professionals for the purpose of promoting Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and professionalism among those engaged in this field, and to maintain the highest professional standards among the ICT professionals. CSSL has played this role for over 35 years now and is considered the apex body for ICT professionals in Sri Lanka. It is a not-for-profit body.

Mahesh Perera was re-elected as the President of CSSL. Perera is at present working for the Sri Lankan Parliament as the Director – Information Systems and Management.

“The CSSL strategy for 2013 has a few focus areas. We will make CSSL internally strong, we will further improve the major value adding processors and we will do our best to meet expectations of members and other stakeholders,” stated Perera, President of CSSL.

He added: “The CSSL strategy for 2013 is well-aligned with the national ICT objectives set out by the President in the Mahinda Chinthana, namely creating a knowledge hub: 75% IT literacy and US$ 1 billion ICT related export by 2015.”

Shantha Fernando – Student Counsellor (Senior Lecturer, University of Moratuwa)

Dr. Malitha Wijesundara – Council Member (Dean, Faculty of Computing, SLIIT)

Dilanthe Withanage – Council Member (Sector Specialist to Senior Minister of Consumer Welfare)

Rohith Udalagama – Council Member (Managing Director, Lanka Communication Services)
