The executive council of CSSL has also decided to invite delegates and conference papers from the Commonwealth countries to NITC 2014 and the conference will involve a strong focus on issues relevant to Commonwealth countries.
In consideration of Sri Lanka’s present position as the Chair of Commonwealth countries and the country hosting the last year’s CHOGM summit under the theme “Growth and Equity: Inclusive Development” the NITC 2014 Conference will run a parallel program on developing a collaborative and connected commonwealth to share ICT knowledge, assets and synergies to advance social development across the Commonwealth, particularly among its developing member nations.
By facilitating a dialogue among ICT professionals across the commonwealth on the use of “ICT for Inclusive Development”, the NITC- 2014 plans to finalize a declaration on “ICT for Inclusive Development beyond MDGs: Policy Objectives and Targets for Vision 2020 in the commonwealth: “The declaration and the recommendations would be submitted to Chairman in Office of the Commonwealth of Nations and The President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa to be implemented in Sri Lanka and in the Commonwealth under his Chairmanship. Organised for the 32nd consecutive year, the NITC involves key ICT decision makers in private and public sector together to share and discuss latest trends in Information and Communication Technology. These learnings are usually adopted in their respective businesses or institutions for higher productivity, greater competitive advantage or customer-centric service delivery.
The Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL), established in 1976, represents ICT professionals in the country. CSSL is a member of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC) and International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and is the proud organiser of NITC.
