CICRA Consultancies Ltd., Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training provider and Metropolitan Computers Ltd, computer sales arm of one of the biggest conglomerates in the country have joined hands to fight cyber-crimes. Under this agreement, Metropolitan customers will receive discount vouchers to follow computer security training programs from CICRA.
These training programs will arm beginners and knowledge workers who use computers at their homes and offices to protect their computers from rising cyber-attacks whilst using email, Internet and social networks such as facebook.
“Computer users browsing the internet face an average of 1,800 attacks a minute, according to latest statistics. That is why it is important for anyone using a computer or a mobile device to learn how to protect their devices,” CICRA Consultancies Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said. “Spending on virus guards and other security measures without enhancing the skills of the computer user is a futile exercise. Hence, we strongly recommend that computer users need to know the cyber security threats and how to prevent them,” he added.
He was speaking at the ceremony after signing of the agreement between CICRA and the Metropolitan recently in Colombo. Metropolitan Computers Director/CEO Niranjan de Silva said that they were very happy to have this tie up with CICRA to offer their services to Metropolitan’s valued customers.
“IT security is a key concern of many people and organisations today. With the training provided by CICRA, which is an internationally acclaimed body, our customers will face less-virus related and security related problems. This will facilitate uninterrupted use of the IT resources. We always strive to provide our customers with value added services,” de Silva said.
CICRA is an accredited training centre of the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), USA, a global cyber security training provider recognised by the US Department of Defence and several other establishments. Its training programs include Certified Secure Computer User (C|SCU), Certified Ethical Hacking and Countermeasures (C|EH), and Computer Hacking and Forensic Investigator (C|HFI).
