CICRA, EC-Council partner Sri Lanka CERT for Cyber Security Week 2013

CICRA Consultancies Ltd. and the International Council of Electronic Commerce Consultants (EC-Council), USA have partnered with Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team| Coordination Centre (Sri Lanka CERT|cc) for the Cyber Security Week 2013 as the Training Partner.
“We are delighted to partner with Sri Lanka CERT|CC for the third consecutive year to sponsor the Cyber Security Week,” CICRA Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.
“CICRA has been a great strength to Sri Lanka CERT in helping build capacity in the cyber security space in Sri Lanka and we are happy to see CICRA support yet another CERT initiative,” Sri Lanka CERT CEO Lal Dias said.
Titled ‘Cyber Security…The Evolving Threat’, Cyber Security Week 2013 comprises a series of events starting with ‘Hacking Challenge’ on 18 September at Hotel Renuka, Colombo; during this challenge, three member teams will attempt to penetrate into an IT environment, and the three winning teams will receive prizes.
This is followed by ‘Cyber Security Quiz for Tertiary Education Institutions’ on 25 September at the same venue.
APNIC Law Enforcement Agency (LEA) workshop will be held on 1 October at the Defence Ministry Auditorium.
Sixth annual National Conference on Cyber Security will be held on 2 October at the Cinnamon Lakeside followed by Cocktails and Security Awards Ceremony.
Two technical workshops titled ‘Network forensics using netflow and botnet traffic analysis’ and ‘Socio-technical assessment of access and insider threats’ will be held respectively on 3 and 4 October at the SLIIT Auditorium, Colombo 03.
Meanwhile, a two-day conference titled ‘Council of Europe Cybercrime Workshop for Law Enforcement and Judiciary’ will commence on 4 October at the Hilton Colombo Residence.
Concluding the Cyber Security Week, a workshop titled ‘Network Security Workshop focusing on Routing and DNS Security’ will be held on 7 and 8 October.
CICRA is Sri Lanka’s pioneering cyber security training and consultancy provider. It is an accredited training centre of EC-Council. The EC-Council is a member-based organisation that certifies individuals in cyber security and e-commerce. It is the owner and developer of 16 security certifications, including Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI), EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA) and License Penetration Tester (LPT). Its certificate programs are offered in over 84 countries around the world.
Founded in 2006, the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team | Coordinating Centre (Sri Lanka CERT|CC), a fully owned subsidiary of the ICT Agency of Sri Lanka, is mandated with the protection of Information and Information Systems in Sri Lanka. Its services range from responding to and investigating information security breaches, to preventing security breaches by way of awareness creation, security assessments and security capability building. It is a member and the national point of contact, for both the Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) and the Forum of Incident Response Security Teams (FIRST), which are regional and global associations respectively, formed to coordinate security efforts between nations.
