BestWeb.lk 2015 winners announced

BestWeb.lk is a unique annual competition that recognises Sri Lankan websites with a ‘.lk’ domain for excellence in visual appeal, usability and popularity in terms of web traffic. 2015 marked the sixth successive year that the event was held, further cementing its position as the island’s premier recognition of a high quality web presence.

Winners of BestWeb.lk 2015 include several former winners – the most notable being www.parliament.lk – and several websites that were nominated for the first time this year. Websites were judged in nine general and four special categories, while overall winners were chosen from across all categories.

www.masholdings.lk was adjudged the Overall Winner – winning Gold – among all Sri Lankan websites in 2015. www.altair.lk won overall Silver and www.uageneral.lk (Union Assurance), the bronze.

The most popular website in the Best Advertising and Marketing Website category was www.fashionbug.lk. Two Silver awards were shared between www.3cs.lk and www.laugfsgas.lk for the category Best Commercial Website. The category Best Corporate, Banking and Finance Website saw www.masholdings.lk taking Gold, while www.sampath.lk taking the most popular website for the category. www.vijithayapa.lk was recognised as the Best E-commerce Website, winning a Gold award, while www.wow.lk was the most popular website in this category.

The most popular Government website was www.airforce.lk. In the Best Media Website Category, www.newsfirst.lk and www.news.lk shared Silver, while www.hirunews.lk was the most popular media website. www.charityapple.lk was a first-time winner, getting a Gold award for the Best Non-profit Website.

www.hirufm.lk was the most popular website in the Best Sports and Entertainment Website category. www.slam.lk won Silver to get top billing in the Best Travel and Tourism Website category.

In addition to the Gold in the Government category, www.parliament.lk won Gold awards in both Best Sinhala Website and Best Tamil Website categories, in which the site has won first place in several previous years. The Special Award for Best Website Developer went to 3CS, who won Gold in this category for the third consecutive year.

The BestWeb.lk 2015 awards ceremony will be held on 13 August.
