The BDO Sri Lanka website has been awarded the merit award in the Education & Professional Services category in the BestWeb.lk 2017 competition.
BestWeb.lk is a competition organised by the LK Domain Registry to recognise the best websites in Sri Lanka. The LK Domain Registry is the only domain registry in Sri Lanka operating since 1990.
Entries to BestWeb.lk 2017 were judged on technical features, excellence in design and content and interactivity under several heads, some of which are detailed below.
n Technical criteria included completeness, navigability, adherence to standards and performance.
nDesign criteria included site design, page design, quality and quantity.
nRecognition was given to websites that took extra steps to increase interactivity and security and safeguard the privacy of users.
The BDO Sri Lanka website is hosted on the BDO global web template and boasts of a modern look and feel, localised imagery and informative content. With responsive navigation and many other advanced functions enabled by the latest technology, BDO Sri Lanka’s website is a perfect demonstration of the capacity and potential that the BDO global web template offers.
The BDO Sri Lanka website is developed using the Kentico CMS Management system. It is a relatively new system in Sri Lanka. This is a new technology which was used by the development team for the first time as it is not widely used in Sri Lanka. The development team mention that their biggest challenge in developing the website was working with the latest technology and using people who were not trained in modelling for the images was a great challenge.
BDO provides assurance and other related services and is part of a global network operating in more than 150 countries. The website is based on a common design shared by all the network firms across the world.
BDO Sri Lanka Managing Partner Sujeewa Rajapakse said that he was extremely proud that the website was recognised and awarded at the BestWeb.lk competition and he congratulated the team which was involved in its development.
“For many of our stakeholders, our firm’s website is the face of BDO. Our site is not only focused on greeting visitors but it also imparts both an initial impression and a lasting feeling. Above all else, our website needs to reflect the beliefs, principles and professionalism that drive the entire network. BDO Member Firm websites are a representation of our global network and our brand,” he said.

The website uses simple language and images of ordinary people, who are friendly, casual and approachable, to make the audience more comfortable in interacting with the BDO team. They have sought to depart from the conventional image of boring accounting professionals.
