Apple developer community gathering for first time in Sri Lanka

‘Develop, Connect and Master’ is the theme of the Colombo iPhone Dev camp which is to be held on the 20 November 2012 hosted by the Colombo Apple Dev Camp community.

This event is an initiative taken by the Colombo Apple Dev Camp community, an independent association founded by a pool of local apple developers with a common aim of enhancing and improving skills of local professionals in the apple technologies arena. 

This is a first of its kind event in Colombo, which is expected to entice its audiences when apple apps will be developed in a ‘live’ environment using the latest technologies. Experts from the local industry will also share their experience and practices with the audience during this event.  

The keynote speakers at this event will be Shanmugarajah (Shan), Chief Technical officer, Microimage, who has over 10 years of industry experience and is a specialist in Android and iOS programming. Further, he also has a great interest for research and innovative technology in the mobile media industry along with a patent under his name.  Under his technical guidance and leadership, Microimage has been able to bag many awards in the mobile media platform.

Dileepa Jayathilake, Technical Architect, 99X Technology, entailing eight years of experience in the industry, has gained much recognition by speaking at many international conferences along with four IEEE publications (the world’s largest professional association dedicated to advancing technological innovation and excellence) which have published his written articles.

Dileepa’s core competencies are in software design, algorithm optimisation, and high performance computing and mobile development. He also has expertise in C/C++, .Net, HTML5, iPhone/iPad development in Objective C along with the complete iOS development stack.

The Colombo iphone dev camp will feature areas such as Prototyping, App development, Dependency Injection, Continuous Integration, Advanced App Design and many others. The two highlights of this event will be the “iOS Pro” competition where developers get the chance to get into the limelight by showcasing their unique iOS solutions which will be previously evaluated by the technical personnel at 99X Technology.  “Lightning speeches” in which pre-selected members are invited to share their breakthroughs in iOS app development.

The main objectives of this event will be to create awareness of new technologies in this arena, knowledge sharing and to boost the interaction of the developers within the local community.
