Celebrating 10 years of Galaxy innovation, Samsung last week unveiled its stunning new line of premium smartphones – the Galaxy S10 range in Sri Lanka.
Galaxy S10 is designed for consumers who want a premium smartphone that allows for immersive, personal and intelligent experience, while empowering consumers with its ground-breaking innovations in display, camera, security and performance to meet their distinct lifestyle needs.
Galaxy S10e, Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ are now available across select retail stores and select online platforms.
With the launch of Galaxy S10, Samsung, Sri Lanka’s People’s Youth Choice Brand for two consecutive years, is leveraging a decade of leadership in flagships to usher in a new era of smartphone technology.
“We are fully committed to build a complete ecosystem of smart devices for consumers across all corners of the world. With the launch of Galaxy S10, we are offering consumers an incredible experience that is tailored to their everyday needs. Leveraging a decade of industry leadership, the Galaxy S10 line is built on our legacy of unparalleled innovation to deliver an exceptional user experience to consumers especially Millennials,” said Samsung Sri Lanka Managing Director Hanbae Park.
Explaining further, Samsung Sri Lanka General Manager Mobile Business Head Shantha Fernando said that Galaxy S10 smartphones come with many next generation features such as Infinity-O Display, versatile Pro-Grade camera, Wireless PowerShare and in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner (only on Galaxy S10+/S10) and set the stage for the dawn of a new mobile era.
“Moving beyond the limits to inspire new passion for smartphones amongst consumers, Galaxy S10 is a triumph of innovation,” Shantha Fernando said.
Making a presentation on the Galaxy S10 and its next generation features, he said that Galaxy S10 is the ultimate representation of innovation in design, performance, and camera.
He stressed that through Galaxy S10+, Samsung has unleashed breakthrough technologies to realise this vision of the future smartphone, while Galaxy S10e is built for those who want the power of these new smartphones in a compact package.
Noting that Galaxy S10 builds on Samsung’s heritage of creating stunning designs and functional smartphones, he said that it is available in 5.8-inch Galaxy S10e, 6.1-inch Galaxy S10 and 6.4-inch Galaxy S10+, the smartphones feature the world’s first Dynamic AMOLED display.
Galaxy S10 supports HDR10+ content; it delivers vivid digital content and dynamic tone mapping, allowing consumers to see a wider range of colour for a brilliant, realistic picture.
Brand Ambassador former Miss Sri Lanka Christina Peiris sharing her own experience of using Galaxy S10 said that the users can enjoy the world’s most accurate colours on a mobile device, even in harsh sunlight. “Even without a filter, Galaxy S10 reduces blue light through its TÜV Rheinland-certified Eye Comfort display which helps protect your eyes without compromising picture quality,” she added.
Building on Samsung’s camera leadership of Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture firsts, Galaxy S10 introduces Penta Pro-Grade Camera and advanced intelligence that makes it easy to take epic shots and videos. Galaxy S10 and S10+ feature a triple camera module design. The main camera module has a 12 MP sensor and a dual-aperture lens that intelligently varies between an f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture.
The secondary camera is a 12 MP 2x telephoto lens, with an f/2.4 lens. The devices come with an ultra-wide-angle 16 MP lens and a 123-degree Field of View (FoV), allowing users not only see wider, but also closer with a naked eye.
“Samsung Galaxy S10 series redefines the photography experience on a smartphone. I am a blogger and with this device I don’t even need filters or edit my pictures; I just post them because the picture quality, details, colours are just perfect,” she added.
It was also noted that for consumers who create videos, Galaxy S10 offers Super Steady recording with digital stabilisation technology. “Whether you’re dancing in the middle of an amazing concert or trying to record every detail of a bumpy bike ride, Super Steady allows users to capture the moment. S10’s front camera supports UHD video so you can capture high-quality content and record 4K UHD Selfie videos and in an industry first, the rear camera gives you the flexibility to record video in HDR10+,” Fernando said.
With the Neural Processing Unit (NPU) available on the chipset, he said users can get pro-grade shots without having to manually select any advanced camera settings. Scene Optimiser can automatically recognise and more accurately process additional scenes because of the NPU.
In addition, with AI Photo Assist, Galaxy S10 offers automatic composition recommendations for users to frame their photos better than ever.
Pointing out that S10’s display isn’t the only piece of incredible tech built into the front of your smartphone, he said it is embedded directly beneath the screen is the world’s first in-display Ultrasonic Fingerprint Scanner that reads the 3D contours of a physical thumbprint, for improved anti-spoofing, allowing the phone to be unlocked securely and intuitively.
“Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ smartphones are the world’s first products to receive certification from the FIDO Alliance’s new Biometric Component Certification Program,” he added.
Further, he said that Galaxy S10 is built with premium hardware and machine learning-based software.
“From brand new power sharing capabilities to AI-powered performance enhancement and Intelligent Wi-Fi, to the ultimate gaming experience, Galaxy S10 is Samsung’s most intelligent device available in the market. With the Galaxy S10+, you can get up to 12 GB of RAM and one terabyte of base storage. From expansive storage to advanced speeds, Galaxy S10 is like having a super computer in your pocket,” he added.
Sharing that it is engineered to provide the best gaming experience, he said Dolby Atmos has been optimised for gaming mode and the S10+ also comes with an enhanced vapour chamber cooling system. “Galaxy S10 is also the first mobile device to be optimised for games created on the Unity platform,” he pointed out.
Galaxy S10 is the first-ever mobile device compatible which gives you the capability to access the first-ever Wi-Fi 6, to provide four times faster access even in crowded areas, he said adding that the newly-launched devices come with Wireless PowerShare, making it possible to easily charge Qi-certified smartphone devices and even compatible wearable devices.
“By just placing a compatible watch, ear buds, or even a friend’s smartphone on the back of Galaxy S10, Wireless PowerShare will start charging your device,” he stressed.
According to Samsung Sri Lanka, the new Galaxy S10 line comes in three stunning colours with ultra-premium prism sheen. The higher memory variants on Galaxy S10+ will be available in a unique, stand-out ceramic finish.
