The Sri Lanka Institute of Directors (SLID) will hold a webinar on the Personal Data Protection Act on Friday 10 June via MS Teams.
SLID said passed in Parliament in March this year, this law has significant implications (including legal and compliance obligations) for companies in Sri Lanka which process personal data of persons.
In the webinar, F.J. & G. de Saram Partner and Head of Data Protection and Privacy Shanaka Gunasekera, will be discussing the salient provisions of this law including: Background and introduction of the law; Key terms such as personal data, data subjects, special categories of personal data, data processing, data processors and data controllers; Applicability of the law; Types of personal data; Responsibilities of data controllers and data processors; Collection and processing of personal data; Customer consent and Data Management Programs.
