Spearheading the knowledge sharing in the field of Artificial Intelligence, SLASSCOM is set to hold the AI Asia Summit 2019 at Shangri-La Colombo on 6 November. This year’s summit will provide a centre stage for the latest developments in Artificial Intelligence, in particular in emerging AI application and research. The event will feature globally as well as locally renowned expert keynote speakers who will share their knowledge and experience related to global trends in technology and research.
Organisers expect over 400 professionals from IT and BPM organisations to attend the event. AI Asia Summit 2018, held last year was a resounding success with over 300 participants taking part in the event to share knowledge and network.
“Within the past few years, we witnessed the emergence of artificial intelligence as a technology trend that will shape the future. We see a marked rise in the adoption of AI in numerous platforms, across many industries from manufacturing, healthcare, banking, retail, logistics and transportation to agriculture. This year’s summit will bring together experts in the field to share knowledge and raise awareness across industry, government, universities and private business on the emerging trends in AI and its applications,” commented SLASSCOM Chairman Ranil Rajapakse.
Industry experts predict that given the rise of multitudes of platforms, applications and tools based on AI and machine learning witnessed in 2018, AI-related technologies have already embarked on a momentous journey. Reputed companies such as Apple, Amazon, Google, Facebook, IBM, and Microsoft are already heavily investing in AI research and development. In the near future, consumers and AI will be closer than ever before.
A number of experts, well-versed in the field of AI including Dr. Chrisantha Fernando, Senior Research Scientist at Google Deepmind, Dr. Romesh Ranawana, CTO at Tengri UAV, Dr. Rajitha Navaratne, former imagineer at Disney, Dr. Srinath Perera, Vice President (Research) at WSO2 and Samith Gunasekara – Head of AI and Machine Learning at Boeing will share their experience at the summit.
