MillionSpaces wins multiple awards at SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2021

Sri Lanka’s sole platform offering space solutions, MillionSpaces is a real-life embodiment of the phrase ‘Dream Big’ and has today evolved as the leading online location booking platform for coworking spaces, hotels, F&B outlets, photoshoot locations, cultural landmarks and more, with over 1,800 registered spaces. 

MillionSpaces was the recipient of many accolades at the recently concluded Ingenuity Awards 2021 that recognises Sri Lanka’s best and upcoming technology innovators, conducted by the Sri Lanka Association for Software Services Companies (SLASSCOM).

The awards won included National Best Product Innovation Award, National Best Startup Runner Up Award, Best Startup Category Award – Western Province and Best Product Innovation Category Award – Western Province.

The company was established by 1 Billion Tech Founder/CEO Prasath Nanayakkara, who was inspired while reading for his Executive MBA at INSEAD France and Singapore. “Seeing global tech firms such as Google and Facebook disrupt the entire world got me thinking that we have to use the resources we have at 1 Billion Tech to revolutionise the market, and thus MillionSpaces was born. 

“We identified an untapped market need for workspaces and decided to offer solutions via a mobile platform – a solution that completely disrupted the market,” he said, giving an insight into the beginnings of this innovative venture.  

Encouraged by its success in Sri Lanka within a short span of operations, MillionSpaces further expanded to Singapore to offer solutions via a novel business model for the ‘bleisure’ (business/leisure) market.  “Let’s say you were looking for a poolside location at a five-star hotel to work for a couple of hours and then unwind for the evening, our platform helps you find and book the perfect space to suit your requirements. These are services which have not been made possible before,” explains Prasath.  Today, armed with an international team of over 10 employees, including a top management team from Singapore, Sri Lanka, France and the US, the company has become a versatile platform for individuals, teams and organisations to rethink flexible working, positioning itself as the perfect platform to find spaces and book them online – a statement they have proven time and time again.
